Meet Wendy Foster

Stonebridge Counseling is my solo private practice. My path to becoming a therapist has included a few different chapters, each shaping how I show up for the people I serve. I graduated from Brigham Young University in 1997 with an undergraduate degree in Family Sciences, with an emphasis in Child Development. Following graduation, I spent several years working in special education with the Davis School District—an experience that deepened my appreciation for individual differences, family dynamics, and patience in the growth process.

Motivated to support individuals and families on a deeper emotional level, I returned to school and earned my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Phoenix in 2014. Before opening Stonebridge Counseling, I worked as a therapist with Hopeful Beginnings in Salt Lake County, where I supported clients navigating complex life challenges and emotional distress.

I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for over 10 years and have extensive experience working with people who have lived through many different kinds of trauma, as well as those struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-worth.

I draw from trauma-informed approaches—including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and attachment-based work. I feel fortunate to do work that allows me to keep learning from others while helping them better understand themselves, build resilience, and move toward their goals.

Philosophy

My work as a therapist centers on building capacity—helping clients develop internal safety and resilience. I believe healing happens when the client aligns with their own core values, lived experiences, and intrinsic worth.

As a solo practitioner, I am committed to walking alongside you at your own pace, offering steady, compassionate support as you navigate life's transitions and reconnect with your strengths.
